About this tool
Where to eat, what to watch, which task to tackle first — small decisions burn surprising amounts of mental energy. This tool takes your options and picks one at random, fairly and instantly. The trick it plays on you is useful too: if you feel disappointed by the pick, you have just learned what you actually wanted.
A history log keeps past decisions visible, so groups can see the process was fair and revisit earlier picks.
How to use
- Enter your options — one per line.
- Click Decide to pick one at random.
- Accept the verdict, or re-roll for a new pick.
- Check the history to see past decisions.
Frequently asked questions
Yes — it uses cryptographic randomness, so every option has an exactly equal chance. No weighting, no patterns.
That reaction is the feature: disappointment reveals your true preference. Either go with what you actually wanted, or hit Decide again for a fresh pick.
Not directly — but you can list an option multiple times to weight it. Listing "pizza" three times and "salad" once gives pizza a 75% chance.
