About this tool
Picking teams by hand always sparks the same argument: the process looks rigged. This generator takes your list of names and deals them into N teams as evenly as possible, using a fair shuffle — no captains, no picking order, no complaints.
It is built for teachers, coaches, event organizers, and game nights: paste the roster, set the team count, and get balanced teams in one click. Reshuffle any time for a fresh split.
How to use
- Paste your names — one per line — into the input box.
- Set how many teams to create.
- Click Generate Teams for a fair random split.
- Copy the teams or reshuffle for a new arrangement.
Frequently asked questions
Yes — names are dealt round-robin after shuffling, so team sizes differ by at most one. With 10 names and 3 teams, you get 4, 3, and 3.
Completely. The list is shuffled with the Fisher–Yates algorithm using cryptographic randomness before dealing, so every grouping is equally likely.
Team Generator splits names into a fixed NUMBER of teams. Group Generator splits them into groups of a fixed SIZE. Use whichever matches how you think about the split.
