About this tool
Random Token Generator creates URL-safe tokens from the unambiguous alphabet A–Z, a–z, 0–9, hyphen, and underscore — characters that survive URLs, headers, and config files without encoding. They are ideal for API keys, session secrets, and webhook signing tokens.
Tokens use crypto.getRandomValues for cryptographic randomness, and each token's entropy is displayed so you can size it appropriately (32+ characters is plenty for secrets). Generation is fully local.
How to use
- Set the token length (characters).
- Choose how many tokens to generate.
- Click generate and review the entropy readout.
- Copy tokens individually, copy all, or download as a text file.
Frequently asked questions
It uses only characters that need no percent-encoding in URLs: letters, digits, hyphen, and underscore (the Base64URL alphabet minus padding).
32 characters (≈192 bits) is ample for secrets; 16 (≈96 bits) suffices for non-critical identifiers. The tool shows exact entropy per token.
Technically yes — they are high-entropy random strings. The Password Generator adds symbols and ambiguous-character control if you want password-specific output.
No. They exist only on your screen, generated locally.
